Why Select Custom Website Development Over Template Design

For the majority small companies, cost is one of the primary determining factors when it comes to exactly what type of web site development company owners choose to invest in. Simply because the rates of building a custom-coded web site can vary so vastly - from a few thousand dollars to tens of thousands - companies often steer clear of custom web developers, opting instead for templated web pages produced on web site platforms like WordPress or Joomla. You can find a evaluation chart at our site κατασκευή ιστοσελίδων.

Web pages developed from templates will probably average smaller rates than custom built web pages, but what they earn in price point they generally lack in features and flexibility.Custom websites deliver additional distinct design. Template web pages force developers to work within just a pre-determined structure and design features. Besides from the ability to modify background color and maybe textual content, template web sites provide little space for developers to alter the website’s look, content placement and navigation. Webpages custom produced from code, in contrast, offer an almost endless range of design features, and can be personalized to any look. Bring to mind the big difference between plugging one’s business logo and contact info into a business card template, and having a business card designed just for that business. Similar to business cards, web pages are a key visual representation of a business brand, and websites templates usually seem like just that - web templates. While there are many different web templates to choose from, most of them are more likely to offer the exact same design functions and functionality, and web-savvy visitors can easily spot a website template. Custom web sites allow companies to stay away from that “cookie cutter” look with a one-of-a-kind unique style and design. Custom coded web-sites offer far more robust capabilities. While template web sites are confined to the navigation, structure and widget apps laid out in the web template, custom developed webpages’ features are limited primarily by the developer’s creative thinking and experience. Please visit wikipedia for more information about Web Development techniques.

The real truth is that the majority of businesses don’t simply need a web-site; they need a webpage with customized apps capable of managing, analyzing and displaying data and/or content material. For big scale company owners, template webpages will never offer the functionality required to operate the kind of custom-built applications which will assist their webpages - and businesses - run most effectively. Webpage templates are only as adaptable as the simple widgets which often come with them. Custom webpages can provide alot more value at the same cost of template designs. While custom developed website pages may, overall, average higher in costs than template web site design, not all custom web sites cost more than template web-sites. A lot of WordPress developers who work from pre-bought web site templates charge as much - if not more - than competitively priced freelance web site developers. The truth is that web site coders - whether custom programmers or template designers - vary extremely widely in how they charge for their services. If cost is an critical factor for your web site, it’s best to shop around to find out which programmer provides the best price and quality. You may be shocked to discover that custom web site coders provide just as much - if not more - as their template designing counterparts, usually at the very same price or lower. This is an article that you should read The Reason Go for Custom Website Development Over Template Design to find out more information.

an unusual experiment by the Santa Cruz Police Department in predictive policing — deploying officers in places where crimes are likely to occur in the future.

In July, Santa Cruz began testing the prediction method for property crimes like car and home burglaries and car thefts. So far, said Zach Friend, the police department’s crime analyst, the program has helped officers pre-empt several crimes and has led to five arrests….

For the Santa Cruz trial, eight years of crime data were fed into the computer program, which breaks Santa Cruz into squares of approximately 500 feet by 500 feet. New data is added each day.

Officers are given a list of the 10 highest-probability “hot spots” of the day at roll call. They check those areas during times that they are not out on service calls.

Why are internships for web design allowed for companies that don’t design websites?
By this logic companies could offer an internship in Interior Design if they fancied their office painted.
Where is the mentorship? Where is the opportunity to work with designers, developers, content writers, project managers and clients on a variety of projects?
How is this not job displacement? Some designer or agency is missing out on this work, and subsidizing it to boot.
JobBridge has failed.

Why you’ll hate Drupal

jmking:

I have a search I monitor in my Twitter client for “drupal”. As the awareness of the tool grows in traditional and new media (especially following the high-profile relaunch of whitehouse.gov), the relative backlash in the feed is startling.

I don’t really blame people, though. Drupal probably isn’t for them, and drupal.org and most Drupal advocates are doing a terrible job of setting expectations. So much so that I feel this trend of pushing Drupal onto everyone for everything is hurting Drupal’s reputation and perception.

To protect clients from bad lawyers, current barriers to entry try to separate the wheat from the chaff among potential legal practitioners. A market for information, though, would let consumers identify the chaff more precisely, saving more of the wheat. It is worth recalling that two of the finest lawyers and civil rights advocates our country has ever produced, Abraham Lincoln and Clarence Darrow, would not be allowed to practice law today under current rules. (Lincoln was self-taught; Darrow attended the University of Michigan Law School but did not graduate.) Eliminating entry barriers and allowing non-lawyers to perform legal services would, among many other gains, ensure that such talents have a place within our legal system.

Are Law Schools and Bar Exams Necessary? - NYTimes.com (via jeffmiller)

Okay, sure. But let’s start by getting rid of licensing for interior decorators first and worry about lawyers second. At least there are some objective standards for what makes for good legal advice…and the consequences for bad legal representation are very severe. Interior design, barbering, et al. are mostly a matter of taste and the consequences for poor performance are merely Crimes Against Good Taste. On the other hand, I feel silly arguing against the Barber Cartel (avg. salary something like 20K/year) while preserving the much more lucrative legal cartel, so maybe this dude is right.
